Starting with HDZero

Like most people who have been in the hobby for a while, I started with analog VTX’s for FPV. But, after having a taste of what digital FPV was like after the chance to try a flying buddies DJI Mavic 2 with the DJI goggles, I kept an my eye on the digital FPV space, waiting for an alternative to DJI to enter the market. Now, don’t get me wrong, this is not because there was anything wrong with the quality of the DJI gear or VTX link - there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

TinyTrainer V2

Back in September 2022 I got myself a Five33 TinyTrainer frame kit, and shortly after that proceeded to get the various parts to put it together. It took a little longer than expected, as NextFPV were having trouble getting stock of suitably sized AIO ESC+FC stacks due to the ongoing semiconductor parts shortages. Finally, though, by December, something suitable came into stock (although a little overkill.. 45A Foxeer Reaper AIO), and onwards with the build.

COVID-19... here to stay or not?

So, it seems like 2022 was just not my year… and 2023 can’t make it’s mind up yet. Putting aside the global histeria of COVID-19… it’s China’s fault but is it really? The outbreak started in Wuhan, China… but what about Italy? Was it a biological weapon used against China and Iran or just a new strain of the humble coronavirus that was first discovered in 1965? Who knows? I certainly don’t, and it really doesn’t seem to me like we will ever know the truth.

New RC Cars
· ☕ 3 min read
I’ve started getting back into RC cars, after getting a prototype RC transmitter to try out, and finding out that my trusty ’lil Turnigy Mighty Monster Beatle was missing a front transmission dogbone, so don’t drive so well anymore (and unfortunatly, this has been discontinued for a coule of years now, and getting parts for this is next to impossible now). After some extensive research (ahem, watching YouTube videos about expensive, fast and big RC cars), I decided on two cars - the Eachine EAT14 for some outdoor racing and the Wltoys K989 for more indoor stuff.

Moving to Hugo

I’ve been contemplating for some time now on how to start actually doing something with this website, after having registered the domain name a couple of years ago now, throwing two different instances of Grav on the two different VPSs that have powered the website. However, for some reason, I just never really saw the point of maintaining the site - I was too busy with other things so never really got around to doing anything further.

So I got a Radiomaster TX16S, and was going through the process of setting up all my different micro flyers. This post serves to document the various model settings, and what I’ve learnt along the way, and I will continue to update it as I go. New server, new grav

Racknerd started warning me in mid December that they were shutting down their OpenVZ VPS services, and were offering to migrate to a better performing KVM VPS with the same storage specs, and at the same price point. Be silly of me to not say yes to a better performing VPS at the same price point no? Well, I migrated my docker-compose stack over to the new system, and with a
